Why is this an issue?

Celebrities like Kim kardashian, Justin bieber, shakira, kylie Jenner and many many more are just a few examples of when influencers incorrectly wear and display African hairstyles, this could include; wearing them to acheive a kind of aesthetic To immitate or embody a caricature of African roots or as some kind of "costume". With the way the world is coming to embrace and learn about other cultures, you get the group of people who feel the need to jump on ther bandwagon and pick and chose which aspects of that culture to wear as they like without educating themselves about the culteral significance of whatever they chose to wear. This has been seen multiple time with African culture, Polynesian culture and Native american culture. Some people may argue "its just a hairstyle, it doesnt matter" "but this celebrity wore it, why can't I?" Now whilst these questions may be harmless to some, to the people within the culutre they are aporoating it sells off as ignorant and small minded. There is a line between whats considerd culteral apropriation, and whats considerd cultueral APRECiation, never the less sometimes this line gets erased in context. Some will say unless you are learning about this groups culture and the historical significance behind their practicas (if they have any), hairstyles, clothing then by all means, proceed, however if it is just for personal gain, if its just a costume that you can take on a put off as you please, then thats when people start having problems.
